FAQ
Pet emergencies: fast answers
What counts as a real pet emergency?
Difficulty breathing, collapse, a road accident, suspected poisoning, bloat (a swollen hard belly with retching), seizures, heavy bleeding, straining to urinate with no result, or a bitch in prolonged labour all need a vet now. When in doubt, phone the nearest open clinic and describe what you see; they will tell you whether to come in.
My pet ate something toxic. What do I do?
Do not try to make your pet vomit unless a vet tells you to, as it makes some poisons worse. Note what was eaten, how much and when, bring the packaging, and call the nearest open clinic on the way. Common Dubai dangers are chocolate, grapes and raisins, xylitol gum, rat bait and human painkillers.
What does an emergency vet visit cost in Dubai?
Expect an out-of-hours consultation fee of roughly AED 200 to 600 depending on the clinic and time, plus any treatment, imaging or hospitalisation. Ask on the phone what the emergency fee is; reputable clinics answer directly.
